This book is very… educational in many ways. Neither of them knows what they’re doing and it’s only with help from his friends that Avery realizes that they’re not doing things right, and what would be right.

It’s clearly evident in the narrative, which is Avery’s. The contrast between Avery before he gets involved with Malin and after, is stark. The author also shows us the harm that such a relationship, when done wrong, can do. You can’t just have a no-strings fling because there’s a lot of trust and care, not to mention rules, that must exist between the two people involved. The author shows us that with BDSM, even if both parties consent and are getting off, it’s very easy to get it wrong. And hence starts a very unhealthy BDSM (no-strings) relationship.īut that’s the point. Avery think so too but that doesn’t stop him being attracted to the guy. He doesn’t talk much, never smiles and gets along with no one. When another of his proposals for a building gets rejected, he gets mad and goes to yell at his boss, Malin, who is Avery’s opposite in almost every way. He’s a very happy person, he gets along everyone, talks a lot …and tends to do that without thinking. I mean, I’d heard this book was “kinky”, but this was more than that. It definitely takes things a few steps further. And yet, I did not expect this book at all. But after Permanent Ink and Off the Ice, I know better. From the Scoring Chances series, I never would’ve known that Avon Gale was so much into writing about BDSM.
